Cross
Country Collaborative Review with High-Quality Video Streaming over
Enterprise Networks
The
Background:
CBS Television Network is the No. 1 most-watched network with more
than 200 affiliated stations providing viewers with some of the
nation’s best entertainment, news & sports programming.
The Challenge:
Replace a legacy tape-based distribution system used for collaborative
review of CBS promotional spots with a state of the art video streaming
system that eliminates the costly and time consuming process of
shipping physical tapes.
The InfoValue Solution:
Promotional spots in rough-cut form are immediately encoded onto
the InfoValue video-on-demand server. Production professionals across
the country can then instantly and independently watch the footage
with high-quality streaming video from their laptops and desktop
PCs over the company’s enterprise network. There is no need
to wait for a tape delivery or a lengthy file download.
InfoValue’s system dramatically shortened the overhead time
of the spots review process, leaving more time for collaboration
and improvement.
The Epilogue:
The system was originally deployed on the West Coast and soon after
was rolled out to the East Coast, including New York. The value
of the video-on-demand system became even greater as shipping times
across the country grew longer because of increased security screening
of packages.
